1930’s Art Deco British Bentwood Banana Rocking Chair

(Halabala style)

£1500

This beautiful banana rocking chair has been recovered in pink and grey ‘Love Bird’ fabric on the front and a beautiful dark grey velvet (Warwick Coal) on the back and sides. Twelve buttons adorn the seat to give a nice plump feel.

The distinct bentwood arms and rocker have been waxed to enhance their original patina and the original brake is in working order, however due to wear over the years the brake will not hold if forced.

Inside the original spring and frame work exists, and although it cannot be seen, it bears the name of Elson & Robbins Ltd, Long Eaton a well know manufacturer of upholstery supplies in Derbyshire, and the patent numbers 471601 & 434865 which both date from the 1930’s.

Danish Dining Chairs

Before …

A set of Danish retro dining chairs originally covered in a yellow weave material. However the foam had started to disintegrate and the yellow proved not to be especially childproof!

After …

Once the foam had been replaced and the chairs had been recovered in a more durable leather look vinyl, the end result looks very stylish!
